Hair loss, alopecia (post-pregnancy)
Hair loss during pregnancy, also known as postpartum alopecia, is a phenomenon that affects many women during pregnancy or after giving birth. It is a type of hair loss that usually occurs as a result of hormonal and physiological changes that occur in a woman’s body during pregnancy and after giving birth. Although postpartum hair loss can be an unpleasant experience for many women, it is usually a temporary condition and goes away on its own after a period of hormonal changes.

Description of the problem
The causes of postpartum hair loss are mainly related to the dynamic hormonal changes that occur in a woman’s body during pregnancy. During this time, estrogen levels increase significantly, which can lead to an extension of the hair growth phase (anagen) and a reduction in the amount of hair in the resting phase (telogen). However, after giving birth, when estrogen levels drop dramatically, hair that was left in the growing phase can suddenly go into the resting phase, leading to hair loss.
Symptoms of postpartum hair loss can vary from person to person, but they usually include noticeable thinning of hair, especially in the frontal and temporal areas, and increased hair loss when combing or washing your hair. Some women may also notice thinning of the scalp.
Treatment
While postpartum hair loss is usually temporary and resolves on its own after delivery, there are certain precautions and strategies that can help alleviate symptoms and promote hair growth. It is recommended to use mild shampoos and avoid harsh chemical treatments on your hair, limit styling with hot tools, and eat a healthy, balanced diet rich in nutrients.
If postpartum hair loss is particularly severe or lasts more than a few months after delivery, it is recommended to consult a doctor or dermatologist. They can order diagnostic tests to rule out other causes of hair loss and suggest appropriate treatments or therapies to support hair growth. With proper care and patience, most women can regain full, healthy hair growth after pregnancy.
