Blepharoplasty

Details

Blepharoplasty is a procedure to correct the drooping upper eyelids. Their drooping is usually caused by the fact that the levels of collagen and elastin in our skin decrease over time, which are responsible for the elasticity and firmness of the skin. The result of this process is skin thinning: it becomes softer, more flaccid, which leads to a phenomenon that is commonly referred to as ptosis. There is an “excess” of skin, which is especially visible in the eye area, especially in the area of the upper eyelids. Drooping eyelids make the eyes lose their attractive appearance, which in turn translates into the appearance of the entire face – it begins to appear tired, sad and older than the actual age of the patient. Drooping eyelids can, in addition to aesthetic problems, affect the quality of vision and narrow its field. In order to overcome these negative effects of the passage of time, it is worth using a blepharoplasty procedure. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. The cuts are made in physiological furrows so that the resulting postoperative scars are not visible. Thin skin sutures are removed one week after surgery. It takes 1-2 weeks to return to normal functioning. The final effect of the treatment appears 6-8 weeks after the procedure.
