Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that primarily affects the face, but can also affect other areas, such as the neck, chest, shoulders, and back. It is characterized by the appearance of redness, flushing, nodules, and pustules that can be painful and itchy. Rosacea is usually more persistent and difficult to treat than traditional acne vulgaris.

Description of the problem

The causes of rosacea are not fully understood, but there are many factors that can contribute to its development. One of the main risk factors is genetic predisposition, but also exposure to environmental factors such as UV radiation, wind, frost or sudden changes in temperature. In addition, rosacea often occurs in people with sensitive skin and with vascular disorders.

Symptoms of rosacea can be varied, but most often include red, inflamed patches on the face, which can be permanent or temporary. They can be accompanied by a burning sensation, itching and a feeling of skin tightness. In advanced cases, lumps and pimples can appear, which can be painful and can lead to scarring.

Treatment

Rosacea treatment usually involves a combination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. Additionally, a dermatologist may recommend oral antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications.

In addition to pharmacological treatment, it is also important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and proper skin care. Avoiding irritants such as aggressive cosmetics, hot baths, or excessive sun exposure. Additionally, regular use of moisturizers and SPF products can help maintain healthy and more resilient skin.

For difficult-to-control rosacea symptoms, there are also advanced treatments such as laser therapy, light therapy, or biological therapies that can be effective in soothing the skin inflammation. With proper treatment and care, most cases of rosacea can be effectively controlled, improving the patient’s quality of life.
