Excess tissue
The accumulation of excess body fat, commonly known as obesity or being overweight, is a condition in which the body stores more fat than is needed to maintain health. It is a common health problem that can lead to a number of serious conditions, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, joint disease, and some types of cancer. The accumulation of body fat can occur in various areas of the body, most commonly in the belly, hips, buttocks, thighs, arms, and face.

Description of the problem
The causes of excess body fat are varied and may include genetic factors, poor diet, lack of physical activity, unhealthy lifestyle, hormonal changes, stress, lack of sleep, and the use of certain medications. Many people struggle with excess body fat due to an improper energy balance, i.e. consuming more calories than the body can burn, which leads to the storage of excess energy in the form of fat.
Symptoms of excess body fat can be varied, but most often include weight gain, changes in body circumference, an increase in waist size, changes in the appearance of the skin, breathing problems, fatigue, mobility problems, and changes in well-being. People who are overweight or obese may also experience negative psychosocial effects, such as low self-esteem, depression, or problems with social relationships.
Treatment
Treating excess body fat usually requires a multi-faceted approach that includes lifestyle changes, diet, physical activity, and possibly drug or surgical treatment. If you are overweight or obese, it is recommended to change your eating habits to healthier, balanced meals, reduce your intake of fats and sugars, increase your intake of vegetables, fruits, and fiber, and engage in regular physical activity such as walking, running, swimming, cycling, or fitness.
For people who are obese or overweight and do not achieve the desired results with lifestyle changes, drug therapy may be necessary, which includes weight loss medications or appetite suppressants. In extreme cases of obesity, when other methods fail, surgical procedures such as gastric bypass surgery (bariatric surgery) or liposuction may be necessary to help reduce excess body fat. With appropriate treatment, lifestyle changes, and support from specialists, most patients can achieve a healthier weight and improve their health and quality of life.
